: Cute story but real professors seem to be more like really boring (monotone) Ben Stein clones. I have yet to see one get excited about anything other than spring break. It reminds me of the old analogy about God being like the wind, you can't see him but you can see his effects on the world around us. (blowing trees etc.) oneywey.... cya Josh
this story reminds me of my second year at usf... i had this professor almost JUST like the professor in the story - who the first day starts in with the - shaking your foundational beliefs lecture... he found a christian in the class to exassperate on the very first day and warned the rest of us indirectly... at that moment i knew only to keep my mouth shut - i wasn't good at debate, much less an unplanned speech in order to defend my belief in God much less my belief in even a local 7-11 and the 4 flavors offered for slurpee's that week... so i just kinda tuned the whole situtation out ... and transported myself to la-la land for about thirty minutes...
but let me tell you something.. this professor was anything besides a ben stein... he would never be caught calling, "beuller" aimlessly into a sleepy class for attendance ... no... this guy actually jumped onto his desk and definately used the inflections in his voice to make his statements more BOLD! in a manner of speaking.
having read this story though i just kinda wished that i could be as verbal and eloquent in my speech as the 2nd christian was ... heck, i couldn't even be as sure of myself as the 1st christian ... not in front of a professor ... or anyone... i just learned that you can't argue with a professor when you are just a sophomore ... you (I) just don't know enough ... nor have i had enough experience, schooling, etc.
i guess my point is that this story made me think about a time a while ago when i sat in a 1/2 desk/chair seat (meant for sitting and writing at) and wondered why i couldn't speak up ... and now why i still can't speak up...
