I took this quesiton quite seriously and collected several light samples (from my neighbor's yards). Upon closer inspection the size of the lights matters in correlation to how much warmth and heat you want to emit around Christmas light season time. Another factor involved is brightness. It takes more little bulbs to produce the same effect that only a few larger bulbs could handle. The last variable I concluded with was the schema desired. If you want to coat your entire house and yard with lights it might be more economical (and safer) to use the smaller bulbs, but if you only want to line your roof, then large bulbs will do just fine. Thus with the scientific evidence from my experiment, I can say that I like larger bulbs better.
