: : : : : : I can still recall old Mr. Barnslow getting out every morning and nailing a fresh load of tadpoles to that old board of his. Then he'd spin it round and round, like a wheel of fortune, and no matter where it stopped he'd yell out, "Tadpoles! Tadpoles is a winner!" We all thought he was crazy. But then, we had some growing up to do.

: : : : : ~~Is this an excerpt from a short story or novel? It's been awhile since I've taken any lit courses, but it rings of a 20th century American author from the South, ..........perhaps Faulkner?
: : : :
: : : : ~~Actually, my last post is pretty funny now that I know where the quote came from!!
: : : well, i'm curious and would like to know who wrote it! pleazzzzz?
: : It was something Jesse Legassie sent to Tim Ogden, and Tim sent to me.
: : I don't know about you, but it has completely changed my life. :-)

: ~~ It was one of the "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey that they used to have on Saturday Night Live. So you can see why the reference to Faulkner I made earlier seemed kinda silly in light of the true source!
thanks!
i think it's changed Vanna's life too... since she's got frog legs... :-P
and don't feel bad Jen, i thought the writing style was familiar too, but i was trying to place it with an african-american author! LOL
