After receiving 372 forwarded virus warnings in the last 1,429 days, I decided to respond in a practical way. To enlighten those who are a bit gullible - 99% of these virus warnings are total hoaxes. The latest doozy is the Klingerman Virus - a supposed REAL virus sent in letters that kills people. Now c'mon people, think about it - Nobody DIED because of the "Love Bug", and it was all over the news for days. How could something supposedly KILLING so many people never hit the news?! Doh!
If you take the time to do a simple search on the web with the word "klingerman", you'd quickly find this is a hoax. There are a number of debunking articles about it.
The site below is a great place (one of many) to check all the warnings you get in your email to make sure that they are real. Just go to:
http://urbanlegends.about.com/culture/urbanlegends/
and then scroll down to the link "Current Net Hoaxes".
There's a write-up about the current Klingerman hoax in there.
There's a lot of folks that have nothing better to do than dream these scares up. So lets all CHECK THEM before we forward them. :-)
