As I knelt there amid the crushing silence,
my ears bleeding from the previously relentless noise,
my heart sank.
"Yes, sir, what message have you for me...
I have nothing to say, only ears."
Then the noise; it started as a dull murmur
and each sound faded into one constant hum.
"SHUT UP!! I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!! MY MASTER
HAS SUMMONED ME!! PAY RESPECT TO HIM THIS INSTANT!!"
Laughter creeped out of murmurs, overlapped by a synical,
"He's not listening" and more disturbing laughter.
Then a human voice..."you're forgiven...it's ok, jesus loves you..."
The voice continued, but my head collapsed with momentary silence.
"Is this why you called me? I'm confused..."
BE STILL!! and so I remained in the heartbreaking silence
in the center of all chaos...and still I was...
until another human voice began.
What he said, I'm not certain, but my soul responded to the spirit
with tears and trembling...
"My God!! If this was your plan indeed and not mine,
then why did it seem so much like a struggle;
why did it seem like I was trying to force destiny;
why did it breed impatience?
You know, Lord God that I would be honored, help my jaded unbelief.
Forgive me, I'm just like Thomas Jonah Peter"
