~~Actually, I found that on a website, and copied/pasted it into my post. Don't know how valid it was. And sorry I didn't proof the verbiage first--if NOBODY used it then that would make it "unpopular". But possibly it was merely an esoteric word, used only in certain circles or regions, thus making it "less popular".
~~On the humorous side, in my search to locate its origins I found a site dedicated to reviving the term "ginchy"--the Guild of Ginchiness or something. And I thought that I was spending too much time on this...!
