: : today i went out to get the mail, and while i did the mailman was still filling the boxes. anyway, i was really glad. i ended up getting to walk all around my apartments. it was nice and cool out. i found all sorts of beautiful things. i saw lots of birds, little spiders, aspen trees, spruce trees, geraniums and even a little scottish terrier to play with.
: : i found a very beautiful spot at the back of our complex where i can see the whole view below us, trees, grasses, the golf course, everything. colorado is so full of beauty.
: : i was walking by this apartment building and thought i heard running water. what i actually heard was the wind blowing through an aspen tree. i finally connected the sound of wind and water and realized that they are related. to our ancestors all things were related, the animals and plants, the earth and the people were all related and working with the creator. how amazing.
: : then i saw so many beautiful rocks and rock formations nearby. the spruces and the aspens were so handsome like a bunch of proud sentries, only in more wild circumstances they would not have been constrained by stakes and wires. They would have grown more awkward and interesting. but no one can ultimately hide the beauty of a spruce, even if he forces it to grow straight up. the spruce is so amazing. it would be my main choice for a christmas tree.
: : i also stumbled across a magical little gazebo. a perfect place to go and mediate, say my rosary and just be alone. i will probably visit this place often. there is something awfully amazing about being in the center of our continent and knowing that you are sitting in this special place surrounded by so much beauty. you realize that everything is sacred.
: : also, thinking of all those you love and miss and knowing that somewhere on this same continent, they are living, breathing, working, going to school, sleeping, waking, thinking of you too. how amazing. it's almost too special for all these words. but i felt like i could not keep this to myself. as i walked around waiting for the mailman i thought about all my friends. all of you. what you might be doing today. what you might be thinking. it was such a great time.
: : there was this real cute girl roller blading and another girl walking her dog and we talked briefly. there was a man walking his terrier and a boy walking his beagle. and the golfers were having such a great time. the people here are very friendly.
: : i took some geraniums that i had seen on the ground and went and sat on a rock for awhile and just thought about all the good things that god has made for us and how we often just drive right by and miss these simple pleasures. a small spider came and built a web next to me. it was amazing to watch. i was totally stunned by her busy action.
: : then, i walked back toward the mailbox to see if the mailman was finished and was happy to find in my mailbox a package from my friend Jay with some nice reprints of icons. another kind of beauty. i thought about how good a friends jay is, and how much all of you mean to me.
: : i am very thankful.

: Today all I saw was a strange site. Rain? It doesn't rain here. We're in a drought. Rain and thunder and lightning. Oh my!

Rain--thanks god we got it last night. I thought Florida was burning down. We have had seven major fires in the last week and they have huge planes going into the mountains to spray stuff on the flames, not to mention cops at every exit keeping people away from huge fires. Colorado is also burning down! You know, I think Mother Nature is slapping some folks around.
