: : : : : when I hear gingerpoets, I think of warm, spicy, luscious things. When I hear darling to fury, I think of a large naked lady painted on some cheap white trash airplane with shiny stars pasted over her nipples.

: : : : When I hear gingerpoets I think of sappy whiny post-grunge alternative boy bands. When I hear darling to fury, I think of passion, fire, a beautiful acknowledgement of that part of us which we all wish to deny, and a recognition that we are all bound for destruction.
: : : John, I must admit--you made me think! I reevaluated my position on the whole reason I like the name gingerpoets. Here goes. It has nothing to do with warm, spicy, luscious schlack. It has alot more to do with the fact that I felt Darling to Fury was bogus. I think I was sort of leaning toward the familiar out of reaction to the new candidate, which I still feel is lame. Some long names work for me: Rage Against the Machine, Machines of Loving Grace, REvolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus.....to name a few, but Darling to Fury leaves me hanging. And, I agree with you that a title with passion and fire would be cool, but to me, Darling to Fury sort of reminds me of sappy whiny post-grunge boy bands that wear old uniform shirts and play with their sideburns too much. They don't want to be punk or pop. they just want to film their videos at Dairy Queen and wear nerdy glasses and do covers of Breakfast at Tiffany's. he,he :)
: : : Bill, who will maintain his VOTE for gingerpoets.
: : I don't know if you counted, but Darling to Fury only has one more syllable than gingerpoets. I don't understand the long name thing. You cited Infant Jesus as a long name and it has exactly the same number of syllables as gingerpoets. If it is a "number of words" thing, they could just run darlingtofury together like the other name:)
: With your tenacity, you could have been Al Gore. ;-)
: Well, whoever wins after all the recounts and lawsuits are concluded, I hope the Poet Party and the Fury Party can work together in a true spirit of bipartisanship.
The funny thing is that I really don't care who wins. I just find myself arguing for the sake of it...I guess I've been bored. I like DtF better, but like I said, i don't think they should listen to us.
Ha! Maybe I really should be a politician!
