************************************************************************* Dear Loved Ones, Please, bear with the brief history lesson at the start of this letter. I have provided background for those unfamiliar with certain details of my coming to Mozambique. Trust me: the conclusion of this letter is worth reading it through! Some of you are aware of how I connected with the Christian Academy in Mozambique. Jonathan Fehl, a friend and co-worker from Books-A-Million, came to Mozambique last February as a missionary under CoMission. Claude Meyers, the director of CAM, hooked Jonathan into teaching there. Since CAM is always interested in bringing in new teachers, Jonathan mentioned me to Dr. Meyers. Dr. Meyers e-mailed me and asked for my resume. Claude is now my boss, and I am deliriously happy teaching everything (except math) from 9th grade art to 3rd grade spelling. Jonathan Fehl is the other half of this story. He returned to the States at the end of November, but he didn't stay. He came back to Mozambique in January and is currently teaching full-time at CAM as well as fulfilling other needs for OMS. Dr. Meyers boasts that I was effective "bait" for catching a biology and math teacher for the school. Now, here it is: the news some of you already know and some of you will be slightly surprised to hear. Jonathan and I are engaged and will get married in July, after our return to the States. We have not yet officially chosen a wedding date. We will move to Kentucky in August when Jonathan plans to begin seminary at Asbury. It feels strange and awkward to share this news by e-mail; however, considering that we are in Africa, e-mail is the quickest way to announce this exciting step in our lives. I expect that a lot of you already heard through M-mail (Mom-mail), the astonishing effectiveness of which communications specialists have yet to duplicate. "A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones" (Proverbs 15:30). Love, _________________________________________________________________
