: Wow, I am totally in awe, not because your dream was so vivid and strange and enchanting, but because you could fly! That is something I have never done in my dreams and I think if I could then I truly could fly when awake(metaphorically speaking). Is this something you can teach someone?
: I would like to know how to do it because you mention that you have gotten better at it.
: I am lucky if I remember dreams at all and it is strange to think back and see the nights I seem to have the most restful sleep, are in fact the nights I remember my dreams.

: I still like Laurie Anderson John!

hehe, yeah she rocks... i haven't listened to her in a while though. lately i've been into minimalist classical music, idm (a genre of techno), and very recently i've had a resurgent interest in polli jean harvey. that girl has written some very amazing music imo. some of my favorite stuff to listen to these days is:

autechre
boards of canada
arovane
amon tobin
philip glass
steve reich

the whole thing with flying in my dreams started when i was a kid. i think for a while i stopped flying in my dreams, but then it came back to me. i think it has to do with looking at the ground in your dream, and then floating away from it upward, then moving over the houses or whatever you see under you. if you remember your dreams, or if you have dreams that you remember inside of other dreams, you can "practice" flying in that you remember what you did before and you are more confident this time around. kinda thing. one thing that helps me remember my dreams is waking up in the morning and then going back to sleep. if i go back to sleep i am much more likely to remember what happened in the dreams i have after going back to sleep since the conscious part of my brain has been activated and can participate to some degree in what is happening. some people refer to this as lucid dreaming. i suppose there are degrees of control. lucid dreaming isn't something i "practice" (who has time for that sort of thing?) but it happens from time to time.

when i was a kid i believed that in heaven we would all be able to fly. it was like a Basic Requirement of the Properties of Heaven for me. and yeah, it DOES feel sometimes that i should be able to fly in real life, i have had dreams where i believed that i was awake and i could finally fly outside of my dreams. then i woke up to the real world... but i think there is still a little kid inside of me that believes that when i get to heaven that i will be able to fly.

someone else was recently telling me that he can levitate objects in dreams. i find this very interesting, its a whole new twist on Dream Powers if you will, at least for me. its not like i've done a bunch of research into the matter or anything.

anyway good luck flying in your dreams. one thing i have noticed is that things i really wish would happen in dreams often DO end up happening (in dreams).
