: : John, tell me in descriptive terms and without too much digression,
: : what was your revelation, please?

: Actually it was quite simple, and I stated it at first, I guess it was unclear. It is:

: That God is so powerful that He does not have to use mystical methods to work in our lives.

: I could elaborate, but i referring to the way we, or at least I, tend to look for God's power in our lives. I am now convinced that we miss alot of opportunites to see God's power in miraculous ways because we are looking for the sky to part and sparks to fall. Even in less drastic situations, we ask God or at least expect him to answer prayer in more or less remarkable ways, when in fact it takes both greater faith to beleive it, and greater power to effect all of the subtle happenings to make it so the right person just happens to cross our path at the exact moment we needed to have them there. And again, at risk of offending everyone, is it easier to accept a word from God in the form of a plain conversation, or in a revelation with tongues and translation in worship. I believe it takes greater faith to believe the first, and that this is evidence of greater power. Just as Jesus said, "Which is easier to say, 'your sins are forgiven' or 'rise up and walk', but so that you may believe..." and he heals the person.

: I could go on, but I think I would ramble too much. The reason i said this is a change for me especially is that I am one of those who seeks the mystical stuff usually, when thinking back, I have seen God's very hand best in the uncanny organization of perfectly regular events. As Steve once said, "God could send an Angel to sit by your side everyday if you needed it and had no other option, but why should he when your brother is right there beside you."

Actually I totally agree with you. It's true and I have been guilty of it myself, that we look for mystical things in miracles and tongues and all. Each one of us has a different way of looking for god and we all mature. Like a child we grow in our faith and are able to percieve God more clearly in every day life as opposed to only prophetic words and other mystic ways that god "talks" to us.
But like I said we are all at different stages of a journey and we each need a different kind of revelation. I am grateful god knows how to talk to me otherwise he would probably scare me right out of church!
