Sunday after our dinner at Tops we got back onthe road and headed to St. Louis. Our plans to visit the arch were thwarted however by the huge 4th of July celebration the city had planned much earlier. There was a bit of confusion since they had all the exits to the Arch blocked off and we ended up experiencing the back alleys of St. Louis until we asked a city dweller what was going on.
They informed us of the festivities at which point we decided to pop a squat and enjoy the fireworks for ourselves. They were good. By the way it was Joshua's 13th birthday. I can't believe I have a teenager! Back on the road again and on to Bushnell, IL. We arrived in the very sleepy town of Bushnell about 4am. We quickly found out about the penalty for arriving at Cornerstone too early, $6.00 per adult. I wanted to sleep in the car for a while but, joseph decided it would be prudent to set up the tent immediatly, ugh. I am kinda glad we did because God gave us a lovely sunrise that morning.
I neglected to mention that we had decorated the van we borrowed from Joe's mom for the trip.
On the back we wrote "Honk if your going to Cornerstone" (And yes I know I spelled 'your' wrong Steve). On the right side was " C-Stone or Bust" on the right rear was "We saw Elvis in Memphis", on the left side was "Cornerstone Bound", on the left rear was "Warning Jesus Freaks on Board".
We got quite a few honks stares and pointing laughing people! It was fun! We got the thumbs up from some and we knew they knew what it was--that was cool!
As many of you know the fest doesn't officially start until wednesday so we had a little time to shop and get settled. On our way into Macomb for supplies we picked up three fellow Cornerstonians who were on their way into Bushnell on foot.
