Another beautiful day without a cloud in sight. I started off the day hearing Elliot Miller(from the Christisan Research institute) talk about his testimony and history of drug abuse along with his searching for the truth. He gave a crash course in the New Age Movement. I thought it was fascinating. Jim Sire(author) talked about Christian habits of the mind, which was very thought provoking. Finally, I saw Jay Bakker (while the kids visited the Artrageous Tent and made Clay figures and painted on the wall). Tent was packed, it was hot, Jay was fantastic. He spoke very frankly about being afraid of coming back to Cornerstone (in fact he was sure after last year he wouldn't be invited back, he said)and, how his wife wept because she was so scared for him. His ministry is so radical that many people are offended by things he says or does. For example, one woman who saw him him at his booth there was offended by the skulls, and said so. He got really upset with her and ended up getting in an argument with her (he said he has a hard time with his temper) and actually was pretty loud and rebuked her. He said at the seminar that he didn't see her there, but was sorry about it and actually was pretty disappointed with himself for his behavior. Beyond all that he spoke some about his family history in the PTL, his mom, his dad and how he was proud to have them as parents. He talked breifly about his ministry in Atlanta, and then he preached, he preached good, too. Much of it is about legalism and how Christians will go out and try to get people saved and make them feel as if they have to change to be Christians. He mentioned holding the hand of a girl who was getting an abortion, playing secular music,an unsaved kid who would show up drunk, etc. He calls his ministry Revolution and anyone who is interested can read my book, after Jeff and I of course.
Next time...more about Thursday
