: All of this stuff just seems to me a whole lot of heat without much light. Its interesting and if nothing else can lead to some interesting study about this or that. I think kabbalah ended up becoming somewhat popular in medieval times, about the same time that some people were trying to transmutate lead into gold. Its just a lot of silly stuff at the end of the day. No one ever really brought a golem to life, no one has ever "unlocked" the math inherent in the letters of the hebrew alphabet (although again it might lead to some interesting study) in such a way as to effect some real change in anything.

The light comes from the psychological transformation that takes place. The same goes for the alchemists during medieval times. If we look too literally at these things we lose the light. I think what the golem myth is teaching and I know what the alchemists were definitely doing was using the physical as a ruse to transform the psychological through spiritual means. Ultimately, I think it's all about healing our psyches- making them whole through the indiviudation process of marrying the masculine and feminine halves (heiros gamos) of our minds, which then communes us with God. This is the ultimate quest for the Holy Grail.

What is the secret of the Holy Grail? The land (the feminine) and the king (the masculine) are one. You can break this down on every level possible and find the Truth.
