: : : I just saw BEFORE NIGHT FALLS. This was a great movie about Reindalo Arenas, Cuban writer and anti-Communist. This movie is his story about his life in Cuba, growing up in poverty, becoming a writer, hiding from the govt. and eventually journeying to New York and struggling with AIDS. This film, directed by Julian Schnabel (Basquiat) features Javier Bardem (real cute guy) as Arenas. Also featured in a few brief but telling scenes is Johnny Depp. Anyway, for what it's worth, I think this movie is pretty damn good and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good film.
: : : Peace, Bill
: : I will not say anything about the storyline, but I can tell you that a few of us decided to shut it off after the first half hour because there were a few semi-graphic sex scenes between the author and his boyfriends. I got tired of covering Tovah's eyes. If this sort of thing bothers you, or your guests, you may want to choose another movie for your viewing pleasure. Most of you are not easily offended by many movies, but some of you would be embarrassed to show it in front of certain company.
: Gotta say "ditto" here. Not at all my cup of tea. To see men repeatedly involved in sexual acts during the movie made me turn it off. That's not entertainment.
I maintain my opinion about the movie understanding that not everyone shares it.
