: : Wow, not talking. Now that is a foreign concept to me. I guess maybe not...I don't really talk much in a situation where I am uncomfortable. But usually I have no shortage of opinions or comments on anything. I wonder what it must be like to spend a good period of time without talking. Especially if you were interacting with others in a situation where they didn't require you to speak. I wonder how much communication would develop without words... and how much we would realize what we say often doesn't need to be said. Maybe your homeless man knows this. It seems to me only one step removed from realizing that what we do often isn't as important as we view it as well.
: : ...It's a humbling way of thinking, especially for someone like me who has an answer for everything.

: i think having an answer for everything is basically the curse of youth. those older and wiser than i aren't saying anything about this because they are older and wiser! but since i'm still growing out of all of that crap, i'll continue in my folly... i read a fortune cookie recently that said something like, "there is no greater curse than the curse of always being right". which basically comes down to the curse of being attached to your ego (another of the curses of youth which life will probably just plain beat out of you eventually).

: so while you are still young you might as well enjoy it while you can. you won't know everything forever! :-)

I don't think it's so much that I feel like I am right. Just that I am usually instantly equipped with a comment, opinion or other such "two cents" that i can't resist throwing in, right or wrong, their mostly just comments. But maybe as I age, I will just quit feeling like I have something to say.
