It actually appears to be the infamous Tazmanian Devil. Of course we could ask a Tazmanian tribesman to be sure, but the last one died in a zoo last century... the tribseman, not the devil.
(that's right, the last human of this tribe was kept in a zoo, they were popular game animals. nice side-note, huh)
