: : The question is, "If your butt makes noise in the middle of the forest, and nobody is around, does anyone still fear it?"

: yes. all sentient beings fear my butt at all times for our pook's sweet sake.

: : Who is sweet Pook?

: ah, pook, the destroyer.

: a character arising out of a piece written by william burroughs. topic: the atomic bomb and the ugly american, death and time. one of the best things i've ever heard.

: "why does death need time?"

: "death needs time for what it kills to grow in for our pook's sweet sake."

: i think Pook is metaphorical for the atomic bomb, but might also represent death more generically. a kind of god of death for the atomic age you could say.

PLEASE, MAY I HAVE MORE WILLIAM BURROUGHS, SIR?
I used to have something of his on CD I believe, at least I remember something like that in the foggy recesses of my faultily wired synapses. Anyway if I did it might have grown legs cause I haven't seen it in a while or maybe I'm thinking of another William Burroughs fan...
There's so many!
