Man! I just went to see it and LOVED every minute of it! Far
from being the trendy sludge I was expecting, I found it to be a
very excellently made film, full of wonder and a great
storyline. I truly loved every aspect of it.

First I need to give out the MOST HANDSOME GUY AWARD! :) This would
have to go to the Quidditch captain, Oliver Wood (Sean Biggerstaff)who was helping Harry at the
beginning of the show. That guy looked absolutely great! God did
a good job! :) Leave it to me to mention something like this. :)

Next, I wanted to mention how touched I was by the scene (my FAVORITE) of the
owl messengers at the beginning who were coming to bring Harry
his summons to Hogwart School. They were so persistent in
bringing him those letters and all the efforts of the uncle
could not stop Harry from getting the message that was his to
receive. It started to remind me of Grace and the floodgates
that God pours Grace through. That flow is unstoppable! Your non-
believing uncles might try to close the mailbox, but God's word
does not return void--it accomplishes that which it was sent
to do. You can't silence God. You can't stop him AT ALL! And if
there is something that you need to know, God will send a
million owls to your house with a million letters just for you
that all say the same thing. I know that this is a limited
illustration of grace, but the whole time I watched that scene
and those owls and the uncle trying so hard to keep the letters
away from Harry, all I could think of was God's limitless
ability and his enthusiasm about reaching out to us.

Of course there were a million other things about that movie
that touched me too. I like the scenes about the mirror, the one
that shows your greatest desires. It was good since it reminded
me of in Buddhism the concept that desire leads to suffering.
And also in Christianity, the principle of losing your life to
find it. In the mirror, you contemplate that which you most
would like to have and you never get it. In reality you forsake
your desire long enough to engage in participation w others, not
to get the mirror image or the sorcerer's stone, but to be
willing to lose the mirror and the sorcerer's stone and to get
love. that's what the lead wizard talked about at the end--love.
i liked that.

also, i learned not to judge a book by it's cover. the one who
looked the most evil, the leader of Slytherin House was not the
REAL bad guy, though he might have been a real smelly oyster.

Anyway, these are my thoughts.

Later, Bill
