: : Bill, let me urge you to read Jay Bakker's book "Son of a Preacher Man" a son's perspective on growing up in the Bakker household and on TV. It, too changed my view on many things including the way I see televangelists. These are real people and although I admit some are cheesy or even fake as Tammy Faye's eyelashes, they DO reach people for Christ. And the Bakker's, as screwed up as they may be (as screwed up as me), had a heart for ministry. Go ahead take pot shot's at me!

:
: Why take pot shots at you? I agree w you. The book was great. I am not at all hung up about anything you said. I agree. I also have friends who know Jay and they all say he is a great guy! In their own way, each one of them, Jim, Tammy Faye, Sue and Jay are all doing constructive things now, whether it's ministry, raising a family, preaching or working in the media. Good for all of them.

: Also, alot of people have said things about the divorce and such, but then, for that matter, let's just overlook half of the people in modern Christendom and just write them off since they are well, kind of divorced. That's not only dehumanizing, but it runs contrary to our teachings on GRACE and REDEMPTION. Also, it's VERY impractical. We need to get over our stigmas about divorce.

:

I got to hear Jay at Cornerstone and he was fantastic! I can't even begin to tell you how his preaching changed my views on so many levels.
I was being facetious when I said "take pot shots at me" we are all too mature in our walk to actually take pot shots at each other, right? ;-D
