this is why we all need to get together and go camping.
i love being in the woods surrounded by all the beauty. it brings a sense of peace that i usually can't capture anywhere else, and believe me, i need every lil' piece of peace i can find! anytime i feel like i'm about to break, i head out to a nearby park where i can hike the trails, and it's close enough that i can look out onto the bay. there i would just sit and meditate, pray. i used to get a lot of wrtitng done that way too, very cathartic.
so, if anyone gets the urge... i think it'd be awesome if we all went camping. but it is getting hot and humid quickly, so.....
: These pictures are beautiful! They make me want to don a backpack, with a camera in it, of course, and hike around a magical wilderness. I know this probably has nothing to do with the meaning in John's post, but nature has always brought me closer to God. In the city, it is sometimes hard to see past all the manmade trash. While blanketed in the majesty of nature, I truly feel God's reality. There, it is obvious that creation wasn't a cosmic traffic accident. Just like a beautiful Van Gogh wasn't created by a clumbsy artist, who just happened to be holding a bunch of paint, bumping into a canvas.
: My friends and I used to hike through the California mountains all the time. We'd climb to the top of mountains, find a nice waterfall, and spend time talking about God, reading from the Bible, or another inspired work, and singing praise. Every once in a while, some unsuspecting hikers would stumble upon our little chapel in the woods, and share in our celebration of creation. Those are some of my most memorable times in LA.
