Nomad, I think that you have stepped up your programming a level. Are we looking at NOMAD V2.0?
In any case, Yes, Bill is a biological unit. And one with a respectable personal philosophy and belief system, which is why he is both frustrated and accepting of these dialogues at the same time. I am looking forward to the day when he unravels the puzzle of indentity.
Your second question -- what is thought?
Tought is comprised of a number of intellectual capabilties:
1) Awareness of your current reality.
2) Analytical processing of your current reality.
3) The ability to learn when facts are presented to you.
4) The ability to analyze such facts and reject falsehoods.
5) The ability to draw conclusions form the above three elements to create new knowledge.
I suspect that I know where you are going with this -- Can an AI think? I think the big sticking point is #4.
Moving on -- Sherman Alexie is a writer. And a good one. I have only read 2 of his books, and seen one of his movies. But cut me a break. I have thousands of years of creative endavours to read, so I can't get to everything.
