myths are stories. they originate in all cultures. the greek myths are the most familiar (i'm assuming) to people who grew up in the states. zeus, apollo, dionysis, diana, etc... gods vs. titans and all that. but every culture pretty much has a set of myths, or stories, that illustrate various truths.
when paula talks about myth, she is speaking about a universal vehicle used by many cultures throughout history through which truth be learned. just as truth isn't bound to a particular time or place or set of circumstances (cultural or otherwise), myth isn't bound to a particular religion, country, culture, or whatever. many of the same themes run throughout the myths, over and over again. different myths are told in different cultures, different characters doing different things (or sometimes the same things)... but the truths, the themes that are in the stories are often very similar or exactly the same.
paula has been studying this stuff for a very long time, and holds a degree from Oglethorpe in Atlanta in Cultural Anthropology and World Mythologies. (hopefully i got that right).
