If you don't beleive in reincarnation, that has a serious impact on whether or not Buddhism makes sense. Some of their teachings on ethics totally depend on letting karma mete out justice. If you only have one life, then buddhist teachings need some serious revisions.
Its just something to think about as you read -- You have to evaluate which teachings do or do not make sense for your life, and pick accordingly. Where Christianty doesn't teach individuals to pick apart the techings, Buddhism absolutely does teach that. It is not a total answer for anyone, and should not be read as such. It should all be picked apart and evaluated, and what holds up to your critiques should be incorporated into your reality. What doesn't match should be thrown out.
Buddhism is a philisophical tool more than a religion. (IMO)
