Just wanted to talk about names for a minute here. Some of us might still have faerie names. Not everyone ever got one and that's o.k. since there are no faerie police forcing them on anyone, but in case anyone happens to use those, mine is Raven. I am just mentioning this since most of you know me only as Bill or Giveawayboy. My full name is William David (Bill) Francis Rogers. William is my first name and means 'helmet of protection' referring to the helmets worn in battles, and by extension means 'defense'. Bill is short for William. David means beloved. Rogers means 'famous sword' or 'spear that one the battle' and by extension means 'victorious'. So my name has a little offense and defense with love in the middle. Yeah. Anyway, names are very important. I would love to get to know if any of you have special nicknames. Oh yeah, Francis is the name I took at confirmation which is an ancient Christian custom. Usually at baptism or confirmation a Christian takes the name of a saint or biblical figure whom he or she identifies with, or in the case of infants, a name is given. Other names you might occassionally see in connection w me are my screennames: Giveawayboy, Reindeerboy, Wondermagazine, Deerlover, Aboriginal Skinrubber, Abskinn, Philomarium or 'almost anything else'-boy...... oh yeah my 'seedy talent' name is K.C. Ohio and of course my new Star Wars name is Rogwi Barsar. I also got a drag name online, but I forget what it was.
Of course there are many ways you can generate names.
You can take the name of your favorite tree and the name of your favorite mythological figure for instance: Lakshman Aspen for instance, or your favorite beastie and the name of a teacher who really influenced you in school: Bryon Axolotl There is really no end to what you can do. Here, pick two famous people you identify with and blend their names: for instance, Antonin Gaudi and Richard Melville Hall yeild Richard Anton.....
Remember, I'm sharing all this nonsense with you to get you to think outside of the box, to PLAY a little and to think outside of the box. Remember, you can actually USE these names as well. Just make sure you enjoy them and that they mean something special to you.
