Imagine how many of us are spirited children and don't even realize it because we have tried so hard to conform and fit in.
I believe I have two sprited children and I spend a lot of time apologizing for their behavior and explaining them to adults. I know some people just dont' have the patience for kids but, for those of who are willing I would encourage you to get to know these kids better before you decide that they are rude or their parents didn't teach them proper manners because I can assure you, in my case I have tried!
Thanks Paula for posting this I will try to find time to read this book!
: Here's a timely quote my dear friend sent me:
:
: This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
: I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live , it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
: I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no "brief candle" to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
: George Bernard Shaw
: ****
: "Irish dramatist, literary critic, a socialist spokesman, and a leading figure in the 20th century theater. Shaw was a freethinker, a supporter of women's rights, advocate of equality of income. He supported abolition of private property, radical change in the voting system, campaigned for the simplification of spelling, and the reform of the English alphabet. In 1925 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Shaw accepted the honour but refused the money."

: Here's a book review excerpt:
: "Imagine an energetic spirited child trying to sit still at school all day, or an introverted spirited child trying to find her place at a busy day care facility, where participating in the group's activity is valued. Kurcinka says, "Unprepared and pushed to 'not be' who he is, the child may become exhausted and frustrated. He may even refuse to cooperate or simply quit trying." The exercise helps parents of spirited and non-spirited alike feel the frustrations their spirited children face each day."
