This is in fact true.
Actually, the name Bob is the alien's temporal finite designation. In the eternal realms he has been crowned Daven-das-araman-doro, Prince of Chupda. I have a hard time with the pronunciation, so I call him Dave for short. The Prince has assured me he will not retaliate unfavorably in the life to come.
