Yes, I believe Paula and I had a conversation about this. I agree, I very rarely talk baby-talk to kids.Rather, I usual just do the higher pitched kinda sweeter than usual thing with my beloved children and friends children. They usually respond quite well to normal english this way.
However, I don't think it really matters as long as you are doing it out of love either way.
Interesting debate though.
