: Bill's 7 Question Quiz~
: 1)What is your favorite holiday and why?
Preface this answer to say I am NOT NOT NOT referring to any form of comercialized crap that goes with holidays. I like Christmas and Easter because they are the two most important holidays to my faith, but i also like Good Friday alot as well, but then that is really part of easter.
: 2)What is a thought that you think that is very original or that you feel is unique?
I think the most orignial thoughts occur when we aren't thinking about thinking. The natural reactions and things that just spring forth.
: 3)What is your best skill?
Tearing things up. Or teaching things. Or challenging myself, if that can be a skill.
: 4)What part of nature do you most identify with?
I am a part of nature and thereby identify most with myself.
: 5)Which animals have you learned from and what did you learn?
I think I have learned the most from a manatee. When I was a kid I spent every afternoon for about a week with a young manatee. We played together real well. It is a truly awakening experience to communicate with an animal that is communicating with you in very real ways. I'm not talking about esoteric spritual stuff, but really communicating. We met because he was chewing on my anchor rope. He was orphaned and alone until the group came back the next winter. He would come by and tug on the rope every afternoon until I got in to swim with him. These creatures are SO intelligent...I was going to describe it, but it doesn't do it justice. Suffice to say I learned that we are not the only thinking species on the planet, and it is not like interacting with a pet. This creature was bigger than me, and free. He came and went as he pleased and he explored me in as many ways as I explored him. I mean he would actually touch me and test me. He showed me games that mantees play and I learned how to communicate for real. I encourage everyone to interact with the world around you with as much respect as you give another human, and don't be afraid to try to communicate in the other species language. Observe, mimic, repsond, you'll see whatI mean... but be prepared because other species don't have clocks, and their customs can be very different from yours.
: 6)What do you think about silence and about being alone?
Being alone is good. I have spent much of my life alone. But being together is good too. People are not meant to be alone too long and a simple human touch goes a long way, even to pierce the deepest depression. Silence is good because it allows you to open into other worlds than your own perception. To follow on the interacting with nature bit, being quiet is skill most humans have lost. But on the other hand, unnatural silence can be devestating as well, and I avoid it pretty much all the time.
: 7)Who to you is beautiful?
My wife is truly beautiful. And in a more general sense, anyone who ackowledges their true nature and even slightly seeks Good is beautiful. I think it is this falsehood that creates ugliness since ugliness and evil aren't really things anyway, but rather negations of things.
