: 1. What is it that you love to do, and what is your very earliest memory of doing it?
Playing music loudly. As a small child I remember beating on our upright piano and singing original rock n' roll songs I had written. My parents thought it was quite cute--until I got a drum set and electric guitars. Then they ceased to appreciate my creativity and passion, and only complained about the volume. ;-)
: 2. What is it that you hate to do, and how many times did your parents (or spouse) have to tell you to do it before you did?
As a child I hated weeding the garden, and clipping the grass around the slate stones in our walkway. Scrubbing black heel marks off the tile floor was the second worst. Washing dishes was probably third.
None of these things bother me much now. Now my greatest dislike is fixing complicated problems that other people have created.
: 3. What is your earliest God memory?
Earliest memories are of Mrs. Snyder's Sunday School class, where I learned that God would always love me and never forsake me. This wonderful woman taught me truths I never forgot, and I finally was able to see her again and thank her at my father's funeral in 1996 at Arlington National Cemetery.
: 4. What was your favorite literary or literal adventure?
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (& The Hobbit) - J.R.R. Tolkien
Till We Have Faces - C.S. Lewis
The Space Trilogy - C.S. Lewis
: 5. Why do test questions always come in 5's or 10's?
They don't--at least not in my classes. I write as many questions as necessary to adequately test a student's retention of the course material, then count how many I have, and weight them accordingly. If by some strange chance the total comes out to be a multiple of 10, I pause and reflect on the mysterious harmony that exists in the universe... ;-)
