: but anyway, i've been thinking lately that i think we have the start of something that could happen right here in our town. we need more artist types and we need to all hang around and plug one another in. we need to take ourselves and our art seriously and do stuff. and its cool cuz we kinda are doing it, even if serendipitously/accidentally as we stumble over things. right. anyway i think some good things are happening and its only going to get better, i hope.
the main thing is not trying to create a scene. it's more like doing our craft, whatever, and being a loving tribe and having enthusiasm. man, you guys, you don't know who you all are. i'm serious. Bob too. he's just like the Denver arm of some crazy unidentified octopus. i've been seeing his art, and seeing him read these poetry anthologies and having great opinions on stuff for a few years now. but Jonvon is a giant. John McGee, well, have you read my Diego Barboza post yet? guys, every post here is a seed. has anyone checked out the PLANET EARTH LOCATIONS installments Marcos has been sending. Please do not let these go overlooked. We have the potential for educating each other, for talking about topics that go unearthed in other communities. the real neat thing about the Pre-Raphaelites, or Dada or New York in the 80s was synergy. We need to work at that sometimes, but not merely to create a 'scene'. it's about existing as dynamically as possible and pushing our work and leaving a mark on our planet while we can. hopefully a mark of healing and exuberance. i don't know everything, but i know that something happened to me inside, something profound and lifechanging, when i spent time in the presence of John Vaughan back in the 90's. it was actually cataclysmic. And where is Mike Pennington? Does he know about my show? Just curious. Mike Pennington grabbed me and John by our metaphorical ***** and really got us on the jump start. Bob had this effect on me too in conversations over pancakes or sitting in the hot tub. Yeah, John McGee, I need him. Steve Holland, Wow! I need him! Chris Kingsford! this man has been involved in at least 6 bands, played traditional native american music, taught drum, taught singing, written poems, had art in galleries, sold his art, etc. he is non-stop. not to mention all the new talent i'm starting to know. guys, more than our art, we have each other as friends too. let's not forget. so i'm telling you. work hard, sweat hard, get a vision. go, sell your car if you need to. and dream. and see how those dreams are part of reality. get w/ others who have visions. talk about them. don't stop. network. push. be as authentic and dynamic as you can.
gotta run. go read everything on this website again. you don't want to miss a thing.
