: (This note is not truly an attempt to say 'didactic' as much as possible.)

: You know the funny thing with such didactic works?
: They only seem didactic if what they are professing is not already a core part of your being.
: Scroll up on the board to my issues with CS Lewis...i know some people who agree with his ideas to such a deep extent that they don't even notice that he can have the aforementioned didactic quality to his writing. To them, he is just writing.
: For Ursula Leguin, I have more of a resonance to her, and do not sense the didactic nature of her writing, with some exceptions in some of her more recent stories. But her didactic nature tensd to run to feminist issues, and she makes it such a core part of the character motivation that i have more patience for it.

: As always, that's just me. I could be wrong. :)

Actually Bob, I should have read this first. Now what I said on the above post seems silly. Or at least, you are countering it here. Well, I am in agreement w you. Perhaps Lewis doesn't seem didactic to me since I resonate w his worldview to some extent. I'm sure he and I share alot. So yeah, I can see from your vantage point now. Gotcha!
