: (This note is not truly an attempt to say 'didactic' as much as possible.)

didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic didactic

: You know the funny thing with such didactic works?

whatz that?

: They only seem didactic if what they are professing is not already a core part of your being.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, boy that IS funny! ;-) *shrugs and squeezes Sponge Bob*

: Scroll up on the board to my issues with CS Lewis...i know some people who agree with his ideas to such a deep extent that they don't even notice that he can have the aforementioned didactic quality to his writing. To them, he is just writing.
: For Ursula Leguin, I have more of a resonance to her, and do not sense the didactic nature of her writing, with some exceptions in some of her more recent stories. But her didactic nature tensd to run to feminist issues, and she makes it such a core part of the character motivation that i have more patience for it.

: As always, that's just me. I could be wrong. :)

nah, i think you are right on it. personally i think both leguin (the little exposure i've had to her) and lewis are both that way. you know, didactic didactic didactic. i have to admit the narnia stuff is hard for me to read now, probably because of that or maybe, no, well that is really it i think. the space trilogy i have a lot less trouble with (tho its been a while), i actually really liked lewis' treatment of the character Ransom (ooooobviously a christ figure) especially in the last book. not because he was a sort of savior character, but because (i don't think i'll ever forget this) of how he looked in the book after spending a bunch of time on Venus. he had been transformed. i just thought that was way too cool. i think he succeeded best though with Till We Have Faces. man, that is one great book.

: With Love,
