: As for your real point about knowing that God is, this is exactly what i mean when I say that often some people need to be beaten with a big stick. When faced with something that is so invariably real, all of the other crap that seems so important goes right out and only the real is left. We need to try ourselves to know what we're made of, so to speak. I firmly believe that we were meant to LIVE and EXPERIENCE not sluff along in this psuedo-awake escapist daze. I feel most alive and most at peace when I am wide-awake with my senses blazing. The hard part for me is maintaining that in this mind-numbing Bradburyesque world of ours that keeps trying to blend us down to a safe and nonthreatening equality. This has been discussed at length by Kierkegaard & Thoreau (2 of my favorites) if anyone cares about that kind of stuff.

Agreed, I'm assuming by Bradburyesque you are referring to a sort of Fahrenheit 451 idea. At any rate, yeah I agree the crap goes right out the window. Just like when the lady drove into our store. all of a sudden I was talking to people, REALLY talking to them, customers, employees, like I never had before. Everyone was genuinely interested in something that shook them all into a common experience. It was incredible, like a storm or something. Well, I got to meet Metin, someone who I knew but had been merely been saying the obligatory hello to for months. I was trying to find out how to get him onto a diff. topic. Now that happened. I was hearing things about coworkers I had never heard before. it was neat. I think that in those moments, which I believe are graces from God, we not only lose the junk that keeps our minds off of God, but I think we regain each other, if even for a moment, in the process. God and neighbor--these are always intertwined.

See ya, Bill
