: Well, I risk sounding cliche here, but alot of it would be in knowing his word, and in having an ongoing prayer life. These things get you used to hearing God's voice, but beyond this, there is spiritual reading, which can lift your gaze toward God and show you things more through his perspective. For instance, reading A.W. Tozer or C.S. Lewis or Saint Augustine, often conditions people's minds and hearts to accept the seed of his word when it gets planted. The other thing is unbroken fellowship w Christians. This helps as we hear god both individually and also as a family. So, I think all of these things can help us discern what god is saying. Finally, I would stop and think about times when I knew something was God's will and compare this type of thing to those. Not that it works everytime, but it is a helpful practice, to rehearse things God has done inthe past and to see the qualities of those events and the ways they unfolded. Chances are we will learn alot in such reflection. Remember, this is coming from a guy who has real nasty agnostic tendencies.

yep fellowship is nice..well i think all in all its a process..i aint no spiritual einstein..nope i am just Raul..some kid who happens to not be always all there when it comes to the spiritual..so bill ya aint alone..i just pray and pray..and ask GOD to work it all out..as he does...i just let him work it all out...and if you just pray for GOD's will to be done it will..and at times yes our yearnings are reflecting what GOD wants us to do..he gives us the desires of our heart..just make sure its within reason..go back to scripture to ensure you are lined up with it..and yeah..keep prayin for GOD to work it all out..as we are not gonna work it all out in our heads..for me i am so over tryin to figure GOD out..it just dont work out in my lil head..nope it dont..so i have given up tryin to fit GOD into my cranium..
but he is there..bigger than my cranium..bigger than the circumstances..bigger than the fact that i am totally clueless and half the time dont know where to go..but yeah..he is in control..and has got a hold of me..so i aint too worried...
