I know it's long distance, and I know lots of you don't know her that well, but if you felt led to call Suzy, I would hate for you to not have the number. Here it is: 863-665-5827. She is this marvelous work. Imagine that missile building that Bob visited, with one entire 80-foot high wall filled by Picasso and Matisse and maybe a little Dali. Picasso would draw all the different facets of humanity--extreme angles of ecstasy and deformity and rage and compassion and bony, deprived cheekbones and tiny little doll-faced girls. Wide-eyed, even if one eye is above the other, or in the belly-button. Matisse would add bright, bouncing colors and sensual, luxurious jewel shades and violent shades of red and yellow. Dali would add curves and little details hidden in the big Picasso ones and in the corners. And flies with thousands of bulging eyes, which hold a special meaning only to Dali.
I can't describe to you what she means to me, but right now she's one of those little doll-eyed girls in the corner, painted in greys and soft pinkish-browns, with an eye in each hand. I prefer the eye in the belly-button, but I love her just the same. She is going through one of those stages in between extremes, where she can't write and feels like she has nothing to share. Not yet truly depressed, just blah. I imagine she would love a call, as she has no PC and therefore no ready access to the rest of us.
