I am feeling what Terry said so strong. I also realized that when we choose to get involved with someone it helps. Let's say this--I've seen this over and over. A guy sits around his apartment depressed, not motivated. He then meets a lovely girl who meets his fancy. Hmmmmm.....suddenly he is quite motivated. I know, I've lived w that guy before, several times. so, let's just follow it through. Suddenly, he is able to stay up late, get up early, run around all day and still manages to find time to do 'extra' stuff for his girl. Also, she helps him to take care of his everyday priorities, etc. I've seen a girl enter a guy's life and i've seen him suddenly NOT be in his bedroom in the fetal position anymore (no one you all know). I've seen it with other things too, like spoorts or working out, but it's usually a girl. Anyway, what about this scenario? At some point the we find something that helps us to maintain a balance until we can deal w the depression better. These things do not take away or solve our depression, but they assist us into a state where we can manage it or correct it a little. And this is very important. So, involvement is a real good thing. Let me add--I'm not saying the key to depression is looking for a girlfriend or playing football, but what I'm saying is that some kind of involvement in a regular activity (perhaps vising an elderly friend, or taking a daily walk and waving at your neighbors.....) can help. Or you could always come to my house and count the parrots.
