Don't know who remembers Rachel Stocker, but we all know someone like her. We have a few in our church. Bill's comments on War2 reminded me of this, so I thought I'd share it. We all need people who aren't depressed. People like Suze Tremper and Bill and others, who make us feel like we can do anything we want to do, if we just set our minds to it. Sometimes that's not exactly true, when we're suffering from depression that cripples us. But the hope is there, and it's encouraging in a bizarre way. By the way, the reference to Ryan is NOT the Ryan we know.
Rachel
She is a sunset at the shore
All golden blushes
And warm salty breeze
Inspiring even those
Who’ve never held a brush
To try and capture her peace
The mechanic draws a sharp breath
And writes a line or two
Children playing
Abruptly feel her pull
Ryan wants her
Mike must own her
Wait for someone worthy, I say,
Hoping she’ll hear
She gives herself away
And they can’t contain her
And they can’t keep her in her place
She is a moment
Of beauty, awareness,
And longing.
Maybe what they want
Is why I want you.
