for some reason my brother took my mother, my sister and i to the east coast in some kind of wooden boat. he had to drive us through these fenced in watery trails. they were filled with sawgrass and trash. finally we went through hundreds of these and ended up at some kind of resort on the Atlantic coast of Florida. something odd had happened here. something horrible was going down. as we wandered into this hotel the taste of danger and sadness hung in the air. we eventually went inside and noticed that there were no real windows, but that the whole place was open to the elements. we strolled around and although on one level it appeared to be a normal resort there were also weird wibes in the air. then suddenly all kinds of bad weather started developing and we knew we were in for a freak storm. the water started splashing a spraying. soon a great dullness like a sickness desceneded upon us like a cloud. about this time the wind was tearing through the hotel and people were skittish. at one point things were getting a little pandemonium-like and suddenly all of my church friends (you guys) were there. we were all sitting down at a table, trying to have a time of prayer i think and suddenly this child who was very frightened ran across the table and just broke the flow of our praying, but the neat thing was that it seemed that a few people went to help him but we kept praying. it was a perfect picture of not being swayed by the storm around us. then later i remember parts of the building were dissappearing and then at one point i saw Superman and I felt relieved that he had come to set thing right, but then i realize that he was fighting w some beast who seemed to be overpowering him. i realized that he was not able to save us. about this point i looked across the courtyard to some other three story building and i caught a large woman out of the corner of my eye. she was ambling along the top of the building struggling against the storm, most likely trying to get inside. and a gust of wind came and blew her off the roof and many people saw it and were helpless to save her. we all just watched her falling helplessly. by this time there was total chaos everywhere. everything seemed beyond control and hopeless. as she neared the bottom the lady fell onto some ironwork that was jutting out from a window. she was impaled on it and soon some men came to help her off of it and to try to feel her body for damage. it was frightening to see them pulling her arm off the iron bar that had pierced through it. then you could see blood pouring out of her arm. at this point i had had about all i could take (if you were in the dream you would realize that it was very depressing) at one point a girl standing to my left mentioned something about how sad it all was that this woman had been so hurt. then all of a sudden something hit me. yes, but she had been spared. she had not died. something kind and merciful had intervened. i didn't make a huge philosophy out of this, i just began to be aware of mercy. so, then as i looked around i started to see little hints of it everywhere. at the end of the dream we walked down to the beach and it was very sad, the feeling of loss was soooo strong almost overpowering. we looked into the water, we stepped into the water and i saw pool toys, beach balls, all sorts of brightly colored objects which had been left in the water when the storm came, or which had been blown from the hotel into the ocean. there were clothes in there too. so, we were just walking through this watery menagerie of lost things and we were being stung by stingrays and also pinched by lobsters. it was so irritating, but we were just not worrying about it. it was like we had surrendered to it a little and i just kept feeling the presence of something very good underneath all this sadness and despair. there was hope here. there was something helpful and kind here. and i wanted the others to know it. and we were starting to. that is all.
