Don't know offhand what would be best. I would search the internet for resources. Better yet, find a friend with a Mac where you can mess around some.
Yes there are multiple OS's. The newest system is OSX, version 10.2, and is very stable, as it is UNIX based. It's also the easiest for a windows user to learn. I am still using OS 9.2 because I have so much software that is native to System 9. When I can afford to update most of the expensive software, I will probably switch to OSX permanently. For now, I do have both systems on my Mac.
