I remember reading a book about this very thing. Not in so many words, but it consisted of several actual accounts of current events where American Christians were involved in situations as epic as anything in the Bible. I mean major world shaping events that we all watched on the news. To me this really solidified the fact that God is as active shaping our world and caring for his people as he was in Exodus. We just don't see it.

This is where practice can come in handy. We can use prayer as a focus to get us more aware of things from God's perspective. Not that it is easy, but it is a worthy goal and it IS POSSIBLE TO ATTAIN IT with God's help. And like anything, it is exercise and it means working out CONSISTENTLY.

: I think we, and me especially, wait for something to come fall in our lap when what we need to do is spring out and grasp the possibilities when they pass by, we never know if we will get another chance at them. Of course sometimes we may spring at things that don't pan out, but the springing is the key. That is where we find God most real- in the motion.

I agree! That is why I moved to Atlanta, to work on WONDER magazine. That is why I moved to Boulder, CO. That is why I got rid of my car. Some people thought I was crazy. Well, perhaps I was. All three of those experiences outwardly might seem like failures to others, but if not I would never have met Howard Finster, one of my all time favorite artists, which has greatly impacted my life, I never would have met Bob the Alien, who has been a very good friend, and lately an even better one and I wouldn't ahve learned the importance of taking long walks and quieting the soul and not rushing.. Really! I remember going to Boulder, the night before I left, just standing on this pier at Ballast Point and looking into the black night. It was as if some cosmic entity were inviting me on a tryst--to suddenly uproot myself, go trapsing across the country and working for Jonvon, at a computer job, no less--I HAD TO BE CRAZY--and I was. So, I stared into the blackness before me and contemplated loading all my books onto a truck and just surrendered to the sheer idiocy of the whole thing--then suddenly against the blackness a crazy blue heron fell out of the sky and crashed on the dock. It was like some strange portent. I just knew I HAD TO GO. Had I not gone, I may not have discovered my spirit sister, Paula. I may not have gotten to see the NIWOT VAMPIRE and I may not have been able to stay two nights, three months apart at the nicest little hotel on earth. Not to mention, Bob actually got me on a treadmill more than once. And, I had access to the sauna and hot tub and pool every night. I had wanted to see my childhood neighborhoods and had fancied a week visit to Denver. Now I had it, a three-month visit, ALL EXPENSES PAID no less. Lucky me. And, thanks to U-HAUL and my new friend Scott Weimers, I was able to see both my old neighborhoods. I do believe in striking out.

: not that anyone really cares... I guess I'm kind of publicly thinking out loud.

Actually, I was happy as hell to see you here. And hope to continue to see you. To me, no matter what you do or don't do, you will always be part of my family.
