It just became hump-day
that's wednesday you see-
the outlook is sunny
for you, but for me:
the parents are driving
like people possessed
to get all the things
the kids want for christmas
my cat's busy pawing
balls which have dropped
due to his crawling
up the tree to the top
I haven't yet bought
one single gift
for a boy or a girl
or a yak on a cliff
if there really was santa
HE surely could see
that there's no way out
of this helpless quandry
but alas I have given
dreams of red suited men
to the Tooth Fairy to keep
on a shelf in her den
so, next time you see me
you might hear me say,
"Bah Humbug!" to Christmas
but have a Happy Wednesday!
