Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy Bithday or bought special Red Velvet Cake for me and other unnamed birthday boys.
I just want to say that I was totally blessed to be at church today. There are just too many things I could say at this point. Really. It was so good for me. I have a whole new lease on life, which was already looking rather bright. So, I'm a very happy guy.
I don't know if I can ever put into words the really cool paradigm shifts I have been experiencing lately. The real test will be seeing if the things that I am learning will go down into my heart.
Here are my observations after sitting through Steve's teaching today:
1) God must be more wonderful and my life must be deeper and richer than I have imagined up until now. I feel that God wants to help me be more aware of this.
2) Grace is more wild and tangible than I had conceived.
3) Things like love, hope and peace, etc. need to become incarnated into action and matter. I need to really experience those things. Until I do they are nice abstract concepts that can sit on a shelf or reside in a dictionary somewhere. Now I really want to see this.
4) Football players who help people w downpayments on homes kick ass!
5) The fact that I can conceive of wanting to desire God more is desire in itself, which is a grace.
Here are my responses after hanging w you all, eating at Boston Market and finally pigging out on Red Velvet Cake and watching MSCL and the making of THE TWO TOWERS:
1) Thanks to all for helping me see better who I am.
2) Thanks for Cari for letting me sit there and talk about the guys on the tele and for just knowing who I am and not freaking out about me. Thanks to Cari for the example of faithfulness she sets. Even when she doesn't feel good about everything she comes to church, she sings, she eats with us and she watches a movie that is special to me. She might feel sick too, but welcomes us into her home. Cari is one of my favorite silent heroes. Cari is sometimes frail, but sometimes a rock. When I need her to be a rock, she is. Her actions witness to me.
3) Thanks to Steve for being a good listener, even if he does talk really loud.
4) Thanks for Raul for not being scared of me and just accepting me and knowing that there is something good about me. Also, thanks to him for being somewhat sparkly and sitting in odd positions in a folding chair and looking like some fashion guy.
5) Thanks to Marcos for bringing glitter into my life.
6) Thanks to Kat for looks of affirmation. Thanks to Kat for realness.
7) Thanks to Tiffers for lunch and just her beauty and her great personality.
8) Thanks to Josh for talking to me. That made me feel good. Sometimes I admit that I don't know what to talk about w Josh and Matt and Patrick, but all three of them really made it easy tonight, esp. Josh.
9) Thanks to Ryan for doing his best, for his successes in life, and for not giving up. Ryan is still like my Simon Birch.
10) I already liked Orlando Bloom, but even more now that I saw he isn't naturally blonde. That was a great discovery. Also, I like Elijah Wood more.
11) Thanks to Jen, who introduced me to Steve Holland, one of the best friends I ever had.
12) Thanks to Jonvon for recognizing when things are 'fundamentally good'.
Thanks guys and gals, Bill
