i guess i'm not finished yet. we will never fully know another person. we don't even fully know ourselves. that said, i'm not about to build alot of little sandcastles for you. god has given us each gifts to serve in the body. often we misunderstand others and misperceive their gifts. many times we will judge a person's worth or lack of it, by their direct interactions w us. if we remaind nearsighted or blinded by this vantage point we might never catch a even a glimpse of the way they interact with the body as a whole. also, we may never see the truest ways we could relate to these people. if we keep the low view, the fleshly view, we may always just see people as stock characters and not see them as the multifaceted gems they are. Ken is a good example of someone who is complex and who is dedicated to alot of different things that often go unnoticed, yet alot of us are content not to know him as anyone other than G the guy who listens to rap music. well, he is more than that. same with many others. i liked the character Cher played in Tea With Mussolini, all bad girl on the outside, yet behind the scenes she was helping others, unnoticed and unswervingly. Well, there are people who support PU who you will never know since they do it silently and without asking for honors. There are people in our midst who have a great capacity for outreach. I'm thinking of a guy right now who has talked to everyone from Catholic priests to drag queens and everyone in between. he is remarkably gifted in many ways, yet is often not known for who he truly is. he is diversity incarnate. i dare say even he may not know who he truly is. he is a multifaceted gem. guys and gals, i'm sorry i keep rambling tonight, but i'm feeling a tad bit paternal at present and frankly i feel weight behind my words. i hope that we all will take a few steps back and erase the stock images we have of each other out of our minds. I hope we will try to take radical new vantage points and begin to observe our community of friends anew. we are remarkable, we truly are. there are gifts and callings waiting to be walked out. what we are, who we truly are is a heavenly secret which our joy is to walk out in this life, in communion w each other. let's allow this new dynamic reality hidden in us to unveil itself. let's not be afraid to be reintroduced to each other. new names, new identities, new way sof relating. this is all so very good. like crawling out of coccoons. anyone with me?
