If you like Circle of Dust, you'll probably like Klank (Nice and crunchy by Daren from COD), Fell Venus (industrial), and Argyle Park (Buca, a good friend and Roadie of COD).
In the Depeche Mode vein, you may like Violet Burning, Spy Glass Blue, Savior Machine, Wedding party, and Dead Artist Syndrome. The latter three have more of a "goth" feel, but all are alt-rock with a high propensity for theatrics.
I'm not sure who is "like" Creed, but you may try asking my hubby because he's the big Creed fan of the house (I do think they're pretty cool, though). Perhaps you might try Stavesacre.
BTW, all the bands listed above have been around for a while. I can send you a much longer list, if you're interested in punk, hardcore, folk, or emo. I think that Xavier and J hit on quite a few decent bands too.
Maybe somebody would be willing to make you a little compilation so you can hear a few of the bands before you spend the money. I won't make any promises cuz then you'll be a card carrying member of the Thistle's a Flake Club.
