: I just want to apologize for my 'materialist' comment on Sunday. I was a bad boy! One of my big problems, other than not being as financially flexible as some folks, is that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I often speak before thinking. Oh well, I at least know what I need to work on. In the meantime, forgive my nastiness. Still we have a real problem to think about here. Many of us want to spend time as a group, yet we have different tastes in where to go, and more importantly, different economic concerns. This is something that I hope we can resolve in a creative way. It might mean that we can't always go out as a whole group. We might need to go to different places depending on where people are at financially on a given week. I just wanted to apologize if my contribution to it was rather negative.

~Since I was the one to suggest that one place Viva La Frida, I first must say sorry. However, I want
to make some things clear. First, and this is my fault, I was NOT aware or I did NOT know about its prices. Actually I suggested a Trinidadian owned restaurant first, only to realize that they were closed on Sunday (its prices would have been about the same as Saigon Bay's). Then I suggested the other (Viva La Frida) but with that I thinking about expanding our horizons and about the fact that its also an art gallery. Anyway this had nothing to do with 'materialism'

I myself have been very inclined in the past to look at things from this viewpoint of dividing people along materialist/non (or class lines). However, I have seen the bad effects of this from President Hugo Chavez which has divided or polarized my natal (birth) oil-rich country (Venezuela) which such rhetoric, and without much real positive results for the poor. Yea, but his failure will keep other Latin American governments from following down that road, and rather will point to the center-left approach of Lagos (Chile), followed by Da Silva (Brasil), Gutierrez (Ecuador) and now Kirschner (Argentina).

Anyway, I'm just saying let's not create division at Parallel Universe, I think all of us have the same economic concern of saving or not spending too much money, I haven't seen a member of the Oligarchy as of yet at Parallel Universe:>

I for one would be in great favor of going out to cheap places; however, there is also another concern, as was pointed out in the article I emailed to you yesterday Bill, and although I'm very much reducing the article to one of its parts, and not looking at the WHOLE by focusing on this....
the availability of cheap, plentiful (fast food) is probably a contributor to obesity in America.
