Howdy!
I just caught up with the 'board - I've been out of town and out of touch... and a little out of mind.
It seems that there are more than a few people going through some "transitionary" states right now. I, too, am struggling with similar stuff. My biggest thing right now, and it seems to be a recurring theme, is my lack of motivation. It seems that the only stuff I do is stuff that I have been doing out of habit. It is like I am on autopilot, and I am unable to take on any new stuff.
Fortunately, God has placed me in an environment where I can clearly see needs - and He has given me the ability to meet some of them. Hopefully this will help pull me out of the mud.
I must also say that it brings me a great deal of comfort to read other posts and see that I am not alone in this struggle.
This might seem a little out of place, but the thought of World War II came to mind (did I ever mention how much I enjoyed the 'Band of Brothers' series on HBO?). Anyway, the particular moment I thought of was when the 101st Airborn was getting placed at Bastogne for the upcoming Battle of the Bulge. As the troops were pulling out and the 101st was getting settled, one of the infantrymen said something to the Captain of the 101. He said, "...with all these troops pulling out, you guys will be surrounded!" - to which the Captain replied, "We're airborn, soldier, we're supposed to be surrounded!"
As "non-sequitur" as it seems, that quote has helped me a great deal. This character understood who he was, and where he was supposed to be. He had no misgivings about his duty, even when pressed. I pray that I can carry myself with that same confidence, and sense of duty - and especially, the drive to complete the task.
