Firstly we would like to thank you all for your continuing prayers, kind thoughts and support at this most difficult time for Katie. I am sure you will be glad to know that they are, without a doubt working.
Katie is now able to sit in a wheelchair, converse without any speech impediment and seems to have maintained her memory and sharp wit. On Sunday, she gripped with her previously defunct left hand. Today, she was able to lift the left arm upwards off the bed, very slightly. The left leg is showing signs of nerve activity, although not yet moving. She seems to improve hourly. This truly is a miracle, when considering she was seizing every 2-3 minutes, unable to converse, on 11 iv’s, 100% oxygen and her blood pressure was 75/41 exactly 2 weeks ago tonight.
Presently, Katie is too physically weak to pursue full time rehab. Consequently, she has been moved to Bon Secours Skilled Nursing Unit in St. Petersburg, for a 3-4 week period, to build her up for full rehab. The full rehab is scheduled to take place at Tampa General Hospital, is residential and can last up to 90 days...
