Well, this actually seems very nihilistic to me. It denies that there is any truth in the world beyond what we make up. I know this is not true from my own experiences.
Society may make up their own truths. But they are not 'Truth'. Truth is a godly topic. All through history, he has given the world truths. He laid down the law for the old testament prophets and their peoples. He changed the laws from time to time, even, giving new direction to new prophets. Jesus came to earth and changed the laws again. Those are the truths by which we must live.
For a long time, I (mistakenly) looked for reasons behind some of the truths. I looked at Mosaic law, and saw that a lot of it was for the health and well-being of the Israelites. And then I thought to myself that if some of Jesus' teachings did not also have such a practical effect, they must not be valid. But then I realized my mistake -- God dictates truth. Even if there is not an underlying tangible benefit, we follow God's truths out of faith and obedience.
The whole point of that being that if you follow what society dictates instead of God, you are denying God.
And the rest of the thought process from your friend is built upon that flawed foundation. He comes to the correct conclusion, though -- society is flawed.

:
: Truth is nothing more than what is dictated by society and the general population to be percieved as true. It is a learned response designed to protect yourself and others from the pain of real truth.
: Most people cannot deal with this reality of truth due to the fact that in order to accept truth a person must first acknowledge their own faults.
: In the realm of all possible human realities the human brain can admit to but not truly accept that there are many faults.
: But which faults are truly faults?
: If faults are dictated by the society abd truth is dictated by the society then society would be what is faulted.
: The only true human faults would be destruction and self destruction.
