: I see that gingerpoets is the victor thus far. Cool. The reason I brought the name into question in the first place is to bring a new identity with the new musical endeavor. The question I have to the responders is: why? I would like to know what people are thinking when they weigh one name over the other. Do you think gingerpoets fits the style? Do you think Darling to Fury fits? Is it a familiarity issue? Any way this turns out, I am very excited to see the support our fans are showing and I would like to extend a personal thank you to all of you. I am looking forward to sharing some great times and music with you.

I think a vote may not have been the best idea...but then again that is just my opinion. I was under the impression that the new name was to signify a change, a new band entirely albeit of the same members. A band that wanted to reach for a darker, more ethereal and more grungy sound. In that case who cares what everyone thinks. Just like when Mortal changed, not to impune either band with the comparison, the name had to change because it was a new sound, a new band.
For one thing, you can't very well pursue a dark gritty sound with any name that contains a common kitchen spice, (or any word that Martha Stewart (sp) may find useful) again not to impune the lady, she just isn't edgy.
On the other hand, if you are not going to pursue the new sound, then keep the name, no sense making any break for no reason.
Either way, I feel that letting fans decide, as wise as they may be, is not a good idea because, is the band about music or politics? Popularity or musical integrity? From the conversations I had with band members it seemed that the idea was to go in a new direction, an untried direction. Is it wise to allow masses to dictate that? It seems that this approach will do nothing but keep the band in the tried and true.
Anyway, I'm sure I have just offended everyone in some way or another, so let the inevitable commence. I apologize in advance, for my words were not aimed at anyone in particular, perhaps they have caused someone to think, which is always my real goal.
Respectfully,
John of the Offense.
